Visiting nearby Countries

Brno is really well connected to other European cities and if you fancy a day trip or even a couple of nights somewhere else while you’re here then it’s a great base to explore from.

We used both coaches and trains to travel to these places. Best places to check for timetables and costs are Regiojet and Omio

  • Vienna. Brno to Vienna takes just a couple of hours by coach or 1.5 hours on the train. We got on the coach and it was just €14 return per adult. We stayed for 2 nights as there is so much you can see and do there. Try the famous Sacher-Torte!
Sacher Torte from the Sacher Hotel
  • Bratislava. A train takes 1.5 hours and a return ticket was just €7! Bargain. The city is pretty small and we did this as a day trip. We didn’t feel we needed to stay any longer than that.
The Blue Church in Bratislava
  • Budapest. The train takes 4 hours and costs around €17 per person. Probably one of the best places we’ve visited as there’s so much to do there. Worth staying a night or two.
Liberty Statue – Budapest
  • Prague. Okay, clearly not another country but at just 2 hours away by train and only €6 per person – it’d be rude not to visit!
